THIS IS ASPERGER FRIENDS SUPPORT GROUP
Social/Support Group forming for Young
Adults with Asperger’s Syndrome
We are forming a group for Young Adults –
ages 18- and up who have Asperger’s Syndrome. Other young people with
high-functioning autism, or PDD may also be
comfortable in our group. The main purpose of the group will be
socializing. We plan to meet once a month for a support-type group where we
will get to know one another and talk about the challenges of our jobs or
college classes, learning to deal with co-workers, and finding friends when
school is over. We would also like to meet one other night each month to go
to a movie, out to dinner, bowling or any other activities that group
members are interested in. We have tentatively arranged to meet at Healthquest in Flemington. We have reserved a room for
late Sunday afternoons. We would meet for two hours from 3:00 to 5:00 pm.
Parents would be welcome to meet with one another at the same time. The
group will have a facilitator, someone who can help us with the tasks of running
a meeting. If you or someone you know would be interested in joining our
group, please contact Matthew or Carolyn Loscialo at 908 236 6153 We would love to hear from you
and have you be part of planning this new group.

join its listserv and group. Membership is open to those adults 18 and over
who are on the spectrum. The first meeting of the support group was held at
the Easttown Library in Berwyn, PA on Saturday,

We – the Los Angeles Asperger’s Syndrome
Parents’ Support Group – are a group of parents, guardians, and care-givers
interested in helping our children, relatives, and others having Asperger's
Syndrome (AS), because of the way in which it affects them and our own
lives. We also talk about similar problems, such as high-functioning autism
(HFA), Pervasive Development Disorder-NOS, Non-Verbal Learning Disorder,
Semantic-Pragmatic Disorder, and Hyperlexia. [The
psychological professions haven’t accepted the categories of “nerd,”
“dweeb,” and “geek,” but we discuss them, too. :-)] We meet monthly (always
on the second Wednesday of each month, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Julia Ann
Singer center) to discuss these issues, either for general discussions or
discussions with invited experts. Please join us! Los Angeles Asperger’s Syndrome Parents’
